Tony's Review of Banshee

Banshee by Ray Bradbury is a wonderful reminder that horror comes in many forms. Sometimes it comes from stories themselves. Bradbury blends folklore, imagination, and quiet melancholy into a story that feels as much like a love letter to storytelling as it does a tale of the supernatural.

There is also an autobiographical thread running beneath the surface. Bradbury spent much of his career writing for books, magazines, film, and television. It is easy to imagine that the screenwriter's encounter reflects Bradbury's own thoughts.

If there is a weakness, it is that readers expecting traditional horror may find the story surprisingly gentle. The pacing is deliberate, and the emphasis remains on character and theme rather than suspense. For me, that is exactly what makes it memorable.

A quiet, imaginative story that celebrates the enduring power of myth.
